Rua dos Aflitos in 1958, with Capela dos Aflitos which originally was inside Cemetery of the Aflicted where slaves, people condemned to death by hanging & destitute desperados were buried since 1775. Infamous Mayor Paulo Maluf ended up razing the whole area to the ground to build a East-West highway popularly known as 'Minhocão' (Great Worm) in the late 1960s.
